My advice is to stop raising hell with them, just be calm and talk only to the owner. I know a guy that works in a shop and I know they make fun of the customers after they leave, your visits may be providing the shop guys some entertainment.

Approach the owner man-to-man (I don't mean with fists ready) and explain that you've had enough. If he's a jerk, then you know where you stand. But I've found a lot of times just trying to work with them helps a lot. Also ask the reason for the delay. It is true that insurance work is easier to turn and more profitable, his shop may be in trouble.

If all else fails, tell him you lost your job and have to sell your daily driver, so you need this car for transportation. Not the other way around. I don't recommend this as it's dishonest, but you might give it a shot as a last resort.

Good luck!!!
