Default Manual to electric choke carburator

I am going to be replacing my 2 barrell manual choke carb since it has a leak and instead of rebuilding it i'm just going to buy a new one. Well a guy I know is selling me a holley 600cfm electric choke for $75.00. I know I need to get a 4V intake but what would have to be done to switch it over from a manual choke to electric?

electric choke conversions are fairly common, and any good carb shop should have the parts, $30-50. It's a bolt in and setting it is fairly simple, just need the 12V power.

Sounds like the carb he is getting already has electric choke. If that is the case, all you need is to tap into a 12V source that comes on when the ignition is on. Some people run the 12V through an oil pressure switch so that the choke doesn't start to open until the engine is producing oil pressure ie: running.

Yes the carb i'm getting is an electric choke carb. The one i'm currently running is a manual choke. Thanks for the replies hopefully I can find someone to set it up right.

for the power supply I plugged the choke into the constant power source for the windshield wiper motor, but i think there might be something closer to tap into on a 67 but you still have that option

EDIT: as kalli pointed out, not constant, a switched source! I wrote my post too fast.

I would run a cable from your choice of location on the dash to the carb and save yourself a lot of problems

????? if you run that to a constant 12V source (not switched), you are running the thing all the time. engine off or on. even in the middle of the night when parked in garage.
How come your battery is not dead?

I was also wondering if i'm switching over from a 2 barrell to a 4 barrell. About how much hp and torque would that add. Because I was looking at an edelbrock intake and it added 5+ hp and 9 ft lb's of torque not including the carburator.

I think it would depend on your exhaust as well.

Oh I forgot about that. Well I know from the factory it had 200hp and 282 torque so with the 4 barrell carburator and the intake being added on to the flowmaster 40's that is has I was guessing around 220hp and maybe 295 torque. Does anyone know if that sounds about right?
