What I'm going for is a big upgrade in stopping power.I like to hit the back roads so I need some brakes that are going to help me in the turns.I would like to do front and back but if that's not possible with my budget I can do the rear at a later time. I have 15" rear wheels and I think about 13". If you guys got anymore questions I'm here to answer them, and I really appreciate the help.

You will need at least 17" wheels for a 13" rotor. You can upgrade the front to the stock Mustang 11" disc set up for around $600 and your 15" wheels will fit. Throw in a set of Explorer rear discs for another $400 and you are good to go.

Have you considered a swap from an Old donor car in a wrecking yard .

Mid-70's Granada or from 68-69 Fairlane,Falcon,Cougar

or how about just getting a bracket(spindel bracket) out of NPD and than going to your local auto parts store for the calibers and etc?

Mil1ion, you mentioned a wrecking yard part availability for a front disc brake upgrade - What donor cars can I use to upgrade a 1966 mustang 289 auto? I want front discs, and a power booster!
I don't drive this hard, so nothing fancy is required.
My goal is to have a dual master cylinder (Safety) power booster (Easier stopping) and best value (Budgets, you know.)
Thank you!

John if it was my car i would use http://www.chockostangclassicmustang...ockostang.html he has the oem disc that will bolt on and they stop better then granada brakes. But if you go with the granada you gotta use the granada spindle not just the brakes.Brad try the link too.

I bought a whole explorer (well, mountaineer) axle for $160 OTD. brakes, sway bar, cables, upper links, posi, brackets, bolts, all there. i'll probably need to buy new discs. flat rate junkyards are awesome.

$400 for explorer disc brakes seems a bit high.

a fox-body power booster and master cylinder will fit with some minor fabrication. both the 2.3 and the 5.0 will work with an automatic. the 5.0 will work with a manual. you can get those for $40 - $70 on craigslist and ebay.
