Well the route i went with brakes on my mustang was Aerospace Technologies. They make an excellent product. The local speedshop here was able to get a front brake kit and aftermarket master cylinder for around 700 bucks. Thats pretty amazing when you think what your getting. The calipers are billet aluminum aswell as all the brackets and such. They are really nice brakes and i recommend them highly.

What are your goals for the car? How big are your wheels? There are plenty of options out there for front discs for under $1k, we just need to know how much stopping power you need, and how much you're willing to stray from stock.

If you can fit them:

13" Cobra Bracket and Rotor Kit Street or Track $450
Rear Brake Mount Kit Mustang Steve $145
Front and Rear Caliper Kit BuyFordRacing.com $380
Rear Rotors Jegs $150
Total $1125 Front and Rear!

If you're not too concerned about fitting vintage wheels and going with some late model wheels, you could go with only the bracket kit from Street or Track and pick up the front rotors from Jegs and save a little more.

Wilwood if you're looking for maximum performance. Their really high performing stuff isn't showy at all, very plain looking, but common on a lot of very fast race cars and affordable. You could do a front disc conversion for around a grand.

There's a lot of options out there and it really depends on what you want. But yeah, it also depends on your wheel size.

You can do front and rear Cobra R disc brakes from modern Mustang (makes getting replacement parts a breeze) for less than $1,000:

MustangSteve front and rear brackets $390
Four red powder coated 10 anniversary calipers $430
Four drilled and slotted rotors (13" front, 11.65" rear) $160

All on ebay!

There you go. Hey Mark, Buyfordracing.com has the caliper kit on sale right now for $380.

Hijack time. What if we were to say that we were restricted to 16" wheels but still wanted to keep the cost below a $1000 for all four wheels.
