Default 68 bumper problem - and anyone else ever feel stupid on this stuff??

Once again I find my self feeling rather stumped and stupid because I can't figure this one out. I put the bumper on my 68 coupe and the stupid thing doesn't line up worth a crap. The gap between the quarter extension and the bumper is way too big to be right. I've adjusted it as much as the brackets will let me, which isn't much. To my knowledge the bumper, extensions and brackets are all for a 67/68, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone have any suggestions. This one seems really dumb, but I don't want to dump a pile of money into new extensions and bumper if there might be some simple explanation.

Also, anyone else ever feel dumb trying to do something so simple on your Mustang? Lately I feel like Dilbert every time I touch the thing.

Thanks everyone!!

You can use body shims to adjust the bumpers but hat is not going to get it closer to the quarter extension. Is it an aftermarket bumper? Has the car been hit?

I'm not sure on either. I bought it from a guy who was restoring it. It's wierd, not only is it too far away from the extension but it's also low verticly (sp?). Basically it's too far out and too far down.
