Baffled valve covers?

Baffled valve covers?
Hi,
I am running aluminium heads (Edelbrock) with nice components around (performer rpm intake, nice cam, super comp headers) which make my 289 verry happy. I am still using the stock valve covers and my mechanic suggests me to upgrade to "baffled" covers to avoid leaking/sealing problems. He says it would be a nice to have and he would feel better if I go for it.
What does baffle mean exactly? How much does it cost?
Thanks!

It may also be a labyrinth sort of thing under where the PCV plugs in. If the liquid oil mist component is not separated away from the oil smoke vapor before it gets into the PCV, the engine will suck down oil and produce smoke at unbelievable rates (a quart of oil lost every 40 miles is easily possible). Guess how I might know this . . .
