Default Identifying a 50 vs 28 oz flywheel

I am still having problems with my clutch
( https://mustangforums.com/forum/clas...ight-help.html )

Having read the last 2 days about a t5 swap I am learning about 50 vs 28 oz flywheels. The trouble I have had with the clutch is that I cant get enough throw from the TO bearing and cant get in or out of gears. When I sent the flywheel off the be machined they lost it for a few days then asked me to come identify it because there was 2 and they didnt know which one was which. Then when I got there they were already sent out to be machined so I never got to see which was which until it arrived back at the store with my name on it. I have assumed since then that it is the correct one.

When I compare the 2 pressure plates they are about an 1/8th inch difference when placed flat on the floor. The clutch is a diaphram clutch, as was the old one I took out. Its a Dynapak model NU0020 I believe. Could it be that either:

A-the flywheel is incorrect? The pressure plate bolted to it fine.
B-the clutch kit is for a newer mustang with a 50oz flywheel. I believe it is a 10 inch, might be 10.5 I didnt measure it, but I double checked 2 lordcos, and Dynapak directly that it was the correct part number.

What should I be looking for, something is obviously incorrect. How can I tell the 28 from 50 oz flywheels without sending it to the machine shop again? I am thinking at this point to return the "defective" dynapak clutch pack and get the fms king cobra clutch.

Any and all help greatly appreciated!!!

The clutch will not care about the ballance, or the 1/8 difference in thickness.

What style linkage/cable/hyd are you useing, and are you sure you are adjusted right?

Also what parts did you use for your t-5 swap?

Bell housing, clutch, t/o bearing, t/o arm,,, *is the arm a "push" or a "pull"?

I am thinking that the "ball stud" you used might be too short....

I havent done the t5 swap yet, I just stumbled across a nice one locally with a centerforce dual friction and lakewood bellhousing so I was toying with the idea.

I have the stock z bar mechanical linkage right now.

Originally the adjustment rod had pushed through the clutch fork so I was an inch short on adjustment play, so I ripped it all apart and welded up the clutch fork to get the extra adjustment but it is still not enough. As it sits it is adjusted so far forward to press the fingers as much as possible that it hits the side of the opening in the bellhousing (which bent my adjustment bar).

Is the fms king cobra clutch only for late model mustangs or do they make it for the classics as well? I cant seem to find one for a 67... hm...

At THIS POINT I am sticking with my previous assesment...

I think your ball stud is too short....

Summit is saying that is for a foxbody mustang, I havent done the t5 swap yet. I am assuming that is the foxbody version of what connects the z bar to the clutch fork?

IIRC, the 50 oz came on the scene in the early 80s, so the casting number would indicate E1 or E2 in the part number.
