Default Replacing 66 289 Water Pump

I am going to be installing a new water pump and am wondering if any of the bolts go into the water jacket and need sealer on them or should a use anti seize. What is the best way to do this.

Just antiseize, none go into the water jacket.

Negative, Permatex #2. This is a non-hardening sealer good for sealing bolts that thread into water jackets. Messy, but gets the job done. Anti-sieze won't seal threads very well.

They dont go into the water jacket so there's no reason to seal them.

Ya know, now that I think about it a little more, you're right, none of the water pump bolts go into the water jacket. That said, some of the bolts that hold the accessory brackets on go into the water jacket and may need to be removed to get the water pump out.

Make sure that you scape off the old gasket residue from the timing chain cover.

Get a piece of cardboard and trace the new waterpump on it. Stick a screwdriver in the bolt holes and through the cardboard.

Now, as you remove the bolts from the motor, stick them in the associated hole location in the cardboard.
