The right cam in a Cleveland, be it 2v or 4v coupled with headers and even the stock intake and carb makes for an impressive engine. The 71 4v on the floor of my shop is the only Ford engine I have that will smoke both tires with 3.00 gears after just mashing it from idle. No need to hold the brakes or do a power stand, just stand on it and smoke the entire block. Sure if it hooked it would be better, but that was 20 years ago and we didnt have drag radials back then.

We'll see how the 2v with the XE274 does when I get the Cougar finished. If you havent driven one built and tuned right, you are missing out on what the Cleveland is capable of.

As for velocity, you could say I am well versed in that since the engine I usually build has small ports and huge cubes so it makes 500ftlbs just off idle and all the way to 5000 rpm. They dont like to go over 6000 rpm without major head work, but why would you need to when you have grunt? That is the same principle as the Windsor, except the Windsor doesnt have 400 to 468 inches under the heads, so you need to spin them pretty tight to make power.

The Ford projects are taking a back seat right now, otherwise I would build a 331 or 347 like that and have it dyno tested.
