Default Engine and Power Problems

Ok here are my two current problems. I have been having trouble with my Holley carbs running extremely rich. (Black smoke even at idle) I went ahead and bought a new carb and installed it last night. Everything was working great. I have gone from a 2 barrel to a 4 with a Edelbrock 289 Torker intake. With the new carb everything seemed to be working fine until we started hearing a knocking coming from the back passenger side of the engine and white smoke. We shutdown the motor and then tried to start it back up but now we aren’t getting any spark from the coil. It looks like there is something between the battery and the coil that is killing the power. Does anyone know what could have caused either of these problems?

Default power meter

the coil reading with the negitive battery post connected is 1.09 and without it is 10.36. Does anyone know why this would happen?

The coil voltage is correct.

It sounds to me like two different problems. One may be ignition related, but the white smoke/knocking problem sounds like an incorrect intake install. Coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber.

Yep, I think I would drain the coolant, pull the sparkplugs and roll the engine a few times.

Since water does not compress, water in a cylinder can be problematic...

You could bend a rod and/or crack a piston... I know...

If it is not too late already, it is likely a good thing you lost your ignition.
