Default 1967 FB tranny/wheel-brake set up

Hey all I did a search on the following questions but couldn't come up with a definite answers so here it goes...

Question 1:
How much power can my current Ford C6 transmission handle? I plan on getting a 428cj supercharged what should I do to beef up my tranny? (I know its a slush box but this L.A traffic is no joke)

Question 2:
I'm doing the drum to disc brake conversion on all four corners (either the SSBC kit or the Wilwood (feel free to suggest something better) ) In conjunction with this conversion I plan on replacing my stock wheels with American Racing Cobra Series 427 (Eleanor rims) with a measurement of (8x17 front 11x17 rear) on these size tires (225/45/17 front and 315/35/17 rear) can I run this setup without problems on a 1-2inch drop front/rear and what should the proper offset be? Can anyone tell me what the wheel/tire setup is on the eleanor from Gone in 60 seconds?? I appreciate any help you guys can give me..thanks Windspeed77

You are saying that you want to run the C6 trans because of LA traffic and then you plan on dropping in a supercharged 428? The two don't make sense but anyway I would say that the C6 could use some help behind that engine so yes i would build it very beefy. The tire and wheel question is hard to say but 11 for the back seems too wide. You can run a 9 pretty safely but I think an 11 will be too wide. 8 on the front should be fine but with the drop it will be hard to tell until you get them on there. The best way is to get your brakes done first and then actually meassure for back space and width. You don't want to make any mistakes when spending that kind of money.

Hola 67t5ponycoupe thanks for the response/info much much appreciated! Yea out here in cali im more concerned with the longevity of my left foot and a clutch than gas prices lol. Besides that im interested why my c6/428 combo doesnt make sense to you please give insight. I was just thinking an oil cooler was all i needed to add but if u kno of other mods please let me know...after thinking over the tire size i think imma good with nothing bigger than 275 on the rears...what are you running on your 67 coupe...once again thanks for responding...

I don't think you can fit 11" wide wheels without going to fender flares or making some hefty suspension modifications. That's a huge wheel with a lot of weight that's gonna rob power. A smaller wheel with like a 255-275 wide tire and good suspension will still hook.

A 17X11 will fit. The 315 will fit also with some massaging. Depending on the manufacturer and the section width, sometime more massaging. haha

Are you serious or is this an exercise in posting? A blown big block in a 67 sportroof?

I hope you are planning a frame, suspension, 3rd member, and axle upgrade to handle that torque . If you start playing with 450+ft*lbs of torque, you are going to tear up most everything that is stock. What is your budget? Plan on spending 50-60% of your money on things behind the engine.

Oh, and until you give us some torque, horsepower, and rpm information, who knows what tranny you will need.

"exercise in posting" thats cute thanks urban cowboy but if you read my original post these question were regarding a 67 fastback but im sure you knew that. Your suggestions are well noted thanks for the "insight". The 428cj is a remanufactured 390 from a company called proformance unlimited. It produces 525hp and besides an oil cooler I wanted to know what other things I should improve on. I think my c6 tranny is a beast and can take a lot of power compared to a c4 but intelligent suggestions are always welcomed...As far as the wheel/tires go i think im more inline with an 18x7 in the front and 18x8 rear setup with a 225/275 combo tire size...I truly do appreciate all the suggestions and information thank you all

What else will you need? Badass suspension, an 8.8 or 9" rear end, badass brakes, subframe connectors, and either torque box reinforcement at least, or some sort of a roll bar/cage to reinforce the chassis, much heavier duty engine and transmission mounts, and with that much power you really want an SFI approved converter/flexplate/bellhousing so you don't lose your feet if something comes apart. And if you go to the track you're guaranteed to need a roll bar cuz most likely it will go 11.49 or faster, plus you're gonna need a driveshaft safety loop, and an external battery cutoff. Plus a harness, cuz I doubt they'd let you run with just a lap belt in a car that fast, and a helmet. Plus depending on how fast you run, if you have an 8.8 it can't be c-clip.
