Default R&I: 67 Convertible Water Pump 289 2v V8

All,

I am in the beginning of removing my waterpump for an install of a refurb unit. I have come across the alternator bolt that feels to hard to removal.

Do I need to remove that bolt for access to the water pump or work around it?

Any tips on the install of the waterpump?

I cant see if you removed the pulley from the water pump. The alt bracket as you know has three bolts thru it. If you removed the other two bolts from the pump which would entail you to remove the pulley then that bolt can stay and hold the alt on. I hate removing the fan and pulley so I pull the entire pump/fan/pulley/alt bracket together which forces you to remove that bolt you have pictured.

Water pump is straight forward, just make sure all surfaces are clean and use sealer on both sides of the gaskets.

so take the spacer and pulley off now, and swing the bracket out of the way if you can.
