Default 71 parts, or lack of

Wow, I am really in a bad mood today. I need to replace my crossmember & cowl vent cover. I know the 71-73's arent quite the red-headed stepchildren the 74-78's are, but geez, trying to find parts is making me pull what hair I have left out. Nobody sells the crossmember or vents so far. I suppose I could make one or have one made, but the cowl vent is going to be a bit more of a problem. Any body have any suggestions as to where to look? I have checked several places online, but surely someone has it. I love this car, but sometimes I wish I had bought one just one year older...........

Which cowl vent covers? you just mean the black plastic ones that pop on? I would think someone has had to have made those by now...

I am going to fabricate the cowl vents, or I will just weld plates in there and block it off. I could probably make some in the next couple weeks and send them to you. The crossmember, well what is wrong with yours, is it bent or rusted?

there is evidence of a repair and not a good one. It looks like they cut out the middle section of the crossmember and welded(poorly) part of another one underneath it. As far as the cowl vents go, I mean the complete cover and the vent hats. Mine has rust on the passenger side right where the windshield meets. The vent hats look like crap, I could probably fab up something, as long as I own this car it wont be a trailer queen anyway. I see that up to 70 the crossmembers were bolt in, and 71 up were welded. Which is probably why I cant find one, that is a bigger job than just a few bolts. I guess I will work with what I have.

No one makes any cowl repair panels for the 71-73's. It really sucks. But I'm just going to block mine off temporarily until either they do come out with repairs or maybe just make it look nice enough that i won't reopen it. The plastic grilles aren't made yet either. I've look at pretty much every website I know of and still no luck on those parts. As for the crossmember, wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't made either because it is a weld-in and part of the front end.
