You need a World Class unit out of a V8 car. The 4cyl unit will "work", but the gear ratio is FUBAR'd and it won't handle as much torque.

How much do you plan on building up your 351W? T5's aren't the strongest things in the world; fox body guys break them regularly with bolt-ons. Even a T5z is only rated to 330ft-lbs.

i dont plan on going over 350-400hp with this car. but if they break pretty easy then i better stop being cheap and build one up.

won't break easy and I think you can regularly throw 350torque at them. I think it's burnouts and other fun things that break them, not 'normal driving' ;-) but if you want to be on the safe side, you probably will have to go tremec tko or similar if it has to have overdrive

Depends on what you call "normal driving" :P I have a tendancy to actually use all of my power when I can I only have a 331 and I'm afraid I'd break one.

If the car is used for performance driving regularly or sees track duty, don't expect a T5 to last long, unless it's a built up G-Force version.

I had a rebuilt T5 made to order for me by a business in Missouri. I found the guy on ebay and all he does is build or rebuild transmissions. He rebuilt a T5 for me out of a 93 GT, and guaranteed it to hold up to 300 torque, but said it could probably take a bit more than that. Its not a Z spec or anything special, the guy said he could build me something stronger if I wanted, but it would cost more. If its a cruiser you want, then a freshly rebuilt T5 out of a V8 mustang is all you need.

yep, Anthony thats him. Really nice guy, very helpful. It was his attitude as much as anything that sold me on doing business with him. Those pics from my post above show the tranny he sent me. So far, it works great.
