Thumbs down help troubleshoot the stall!!!

alright, I recently bought a '68 coupe. It's a 302, and to start off a friend and I rebuilt the carb, put a performance coil/wires w/plugs and a new cap & rotor. But the thing is still stalling. It shifts fine, but right after 2nd gear, before the temp gets over 180, it's really sluggish, stalls (doesn't die) and occasionally backfires in the carb. We checked the power booster (whatever the name is of that pump) in the carb, so I don't think that's it...anyone have other suggestions?

Check the timing and tune the carb.
