Default Don't you just love it

Don't you just love it when you've been working on your project for what seems like forever until, you finally drive it out of the garage and out in the street??! That was my situation today. It was a great feeling but, unfortunately there's still some things I need to adjust and mess with. Like for example, there's something drainning my battery, I have no clue what it is.
My brakes are locking..well more like sticking ( I have no clue why). The car came with manual brakes and I installed a brake booster along with the right pedal and basicly when I brake, the pedal smoothly comes down and the car stops but, the pedal doesn't come back up. I don't know if it's a vacum thing or if I'm missing a spring somewhere...any clues?

I do love it!!!!!!!!

I just had the same experience about a week or so ago. Now my Mustang is basically done. It was about 75 percent restored back in high school and then it sat for 10 years. Its now 95 percent restored. I just got insurance registration and inspection. Mine still needs a few things as well.

I will also get some updated pictures of mine soon.

Is your car 4 wheel drum or disc front and drum rear?

If the brakes were redone some time ago and it sat for a while it could just be that the wheel cylinders or calipers are needing rebuilt/replaced.

My 65 was originally 4 wheel drum non power. I had to install a spring from the pedal to the bottom of the steering column to help bring the pedal back up.

I don't have to do that any longer since it has Granada disc brakes on it now.

That's really interesting that you say that. Because I believe the car was orginally a 4 wheel drum,no power, then it was converted to disc in the front and then i added power brakes. But...hmm..why would it stick like that?? if you converted your to granda brakes and it when away, was the problem rginally in the caliper?

Interesting, since none of these cars had a return spring on the brake pedal. The master cylinder was supposed to do that, or of course the booster if so equipped.

I just meant that if it sat for a while calipers and wheels cylinders can stick and not function properly. If your car didn't sit for a long time then thats probably not the problem.

When my car was 4 wheel drum and had the dinky single reservior master cylinder, the entire brake system was rebuilt and I still needed a spring to get the pedal to come all the way back up. I don't know why.

I was thinking the same thing too earlier, maybe I do need to clean out the wheel cylinders and calipers. but when I drive it it seems more like a vacum issue...i don't know

What type of engine do you have and is it cammed?
its sounds like to me theres not enough return pressure on the booster end of the system. Is it hard to press the pedal? if not then you dont have a vacum issue.

it's a late model 5.0L that came out of a 88 mustang. The pedal is fine is brakes smoothly but, the pedal just doesn't seem to return all the way
