On 17's, in a 67/68. With 16's it might be too tight, depending on how the lip of the rim is. The 67/68's have a tad more clearance between the rim and ball joint.

I bought the Vintage 50s 10-spoke 16x8" 4.5bs and have 245/50ZR16 BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S tires mounted on them. Talking to Vintage Wheel Works, I was told that the 16x8s would fit fine on a 67 and tires up to 245/50 will work front and back. This is also listed on their site here.

I plan on getting the wheels mounted this week sometime to verify myself but I'm confident they will fit. I'll post some pics however it doesn't help you since I no longer have the front stock suspension.

Even if the front suspension is modified, as long as the control arm lengths are the same and the spindles are the same, then fitment consideration applies all the same.

Thanks Adrenolin, good to know VWW agrees with the 4.5" backspacing with 8" width.

The guy is going to drop a rim off for me to look at at work tomorrow (perks of working at Napa), so I'll have a chance to verify dimensions. I don't think I have enough time during lunch to pull a rim off my car and test fit the rims.

The ad actually says 16x8.5", but I suspect he doesn't know to how to measure rim width. They were originally meant for a '66 Mustang, but the customer wasn't happy with the width (he wanted larger tires on a '66?) and ordered something wider. They've never been run, just had a set of tires installed on them.

I really shouldn't be thinking about spending the money, but this is a killer deal for what looks like the exact wheels I want.

Just so we are clear.

According to Dodgestang's wheel chart (who ever the heck he is) there are at least 8 people in the world running 16x8 with 4.5 backspacing on the front of 1967/8 mustangs, 10 people with 16x8 with 4.5 backspacing on 65/6 and 2 people with 16x7 with 4 inch backspacing on 65/6 mustangs. Not a single one of these PEOPLE indicated they had contact with the upper control arms.

I even have a pic of one....16x8 4.5 bs 225 50 16 all the way around.
