Lots of good info here, thanks guys! Keep it coming if you have further comments or opinions.

Forgot to mention that I have a T-5 (with bell) and don't have a T-10 or toploader yet. I don't see any real benefit to using the T-5 bell, except for not having to buy the adapter. I've looked at the conversion crossmember and since it looks so much like the configuration of the stocker, I'm wondering what the difference is.....

With either tranny, a rebuild is likely to be done, unless the T-10 I find is in great condition. I know my T-5 at least needs the input bearing support, not sure what else.

If anyone has gone from T-10 to T-5, do you want to sell your old tranny???? Not interested in a 3 speed.

Hell, I don't know, maybe I should have stuck with the auto (that I traded off for the T-5).
