We install unisteer power steering racks on many of our customers cars. Only issue we have had is with a Big Block car and the steering being a little to tight at an idle. All we had to do is have them send out a different valve for the power streering pump to increase the pump pressure and it was fine. Very good product and a nice complete kit.

the car i have is a 67 with a smallblock and manual trans. so i was thinking
of a manual rack . will the steering effort be lesser with rack & pinion than
with a steering gearbox? and what about the turning radius is much reduced?
Thanks peter.

does this kit come with the steering shaft that goes through the steering column?

reason i ask is, if im going to change the rack and pinion, i want a new shaft too. the threads on the steering shaft are stripped, so i have to be so carefull when i remove the steering wheel for any reason. im thinking i should grind it down smooth and retap new threads. and use a slightly smaller nut.

early 67 unisteer manual rack and pinion (NEW DESIGN) with center take off.
Works on 67 mustang 351W JBA headers Z-Bar.
Make a note to include 67-69 tie rod ends when ordering if you have 67 spindles.
Turning radius approx same as stock mustang; nearly hits both steering stops.
Turning effort between ford manual box and ford power box.
Rack and pinion play is zero.
Total system play at wheel roughly 1/16" to 1/8" (guesstimate).
Kit comes with steering shaft that fits original mustang steering wheel.
I could install a second kit in one day but my first kit took more than one day.
