351w clearance issues, won't fit
Friend and I built a 351w to drop into a 72. Built, all fine and dandy. Looks nice. The other day we go to drop it in, find that the oil pan, is hitting the front of the cross member. But only on the passenger side. The driver side, the motor mount (we're using 302 replacement mounts from Lakewood) lines up fine, sits over the frame brace fine, oil pan sits nicely in front of the k-member. Passenger side, it's not even close. It's like the frame mount needs to be moved forward about 3/4" or so. Almost like if we could flip the frame mount, 180°, so the little part sticking out that faces the rear of the engine, were to face forward, it might work - that kind of space. But the oil pan hitting the cross member doesn't let the engine go back enough to sit over the brace as it is now.
The oil pan is huge, but is said to fit the 72 chassis, and based on the driver side working, I can see how it does. The passenger side, I have no clue. What are the options here? Getting a new pan is kind of the last ditch resort since we've got a 418 stroker kit in there and the current pan didn't require any modifications to clear the kit.

Are you sure that the frame is straight? Your old motor could have been pushed around and somehow sitting so that it would still drive, but when the new one comes in and new mounts that side just wont line up..
