Default Need a GT350 dimension

Regarding dimensions, below is a pic of the stripes of a '65. As I understand it, the larger middle stripe measures 2-1/8", and the top and bottom stripes each measure 1/2" with 1/2" gaps between them and the middle stripe. There is a 1/2" gap between the front portion of the middle stripe and the G, and also a 1/2" gap between the 0 and the door gap on each side.

Can someone take a measurement for me (or you may know) Actually how long is the G.T.350 from the outside of the G to the outside of the 0? I'm getting a decal made. Or, has anyone had one made and can recommend a source? I'm concerned about matching the paint.

thanks

Why not just buy one?

The paint should be guardsman blue. Since the letters were decals, and the stripe paint, I doubt they ever matched perfectly. In fact, I'd bet on it. A metallic paint stripe and a vinyl sticker? Yeah, right.

you cant buy one anymore iirc due to copyright issues from shelby american, i believe they restrict the purchase to only shelby owners so no one can build clones

More than that, Shelby is attempting to enforce the dimensions of these stripes as a trademark, not just the lettering. And yes, SA will only sell you a stripe kit if you provide the VIN.

As to prevention of clones, good luck with that. What I have found annoying about the SA policy is they did absolutely nothing for decades, not even supporting Shelby car owners in any way, suddenly they start screwing people like Branda who single-handedly, with no help from Ford or SA kept these cars together. Now that they are considered "legendary", SA isn't just enforcing the trademark, they're being really nasty about it. They could do a lot better all around if they just charged a 10% fee or something and went with the tide.

That's why I'm looking for the dimension. I want to make a decal that fits the spacing.

Just scale the photo up to full size and measure it. Piece of cake.

I don't have the car here to scale.

If someone with the letters would take a quick measure, I'd appreciate it.

James, try these guys:

http://www.stencilsandstripes.com/pr_ford&mer_must.asp

I got a stencil from them and it is very high quality. They also are licensed from Shelby.

I've got a stencil or order from Laurel Mountain.... its backordered and won't be in for 3-4 weeks. My stripes are being painted next week.

Would you mind taking a look and telling me the length and width dimensions? I've found a place that will make them same day and ship.
