Help....67 I6 going for a 302...Help
Whats going on guys. This is my first post, so please no bashing =)....
Anyways, I have a 1967 Mustang Convertible in my garage, been sitting for a LONG TIME. It still has the factory I6 motor w/ 3 speed in it with 4-lug bolt pattern. I found a guy selling a 1965 Mustang that was a factory 289 car (but with a 302 now) and is a complete running car. Now....what is interchange-able between the 67 Convertible and the 65 Coupe?
I was thinking of swapping the following :
Front+Rear suspension w/ rear end
Motor + Motormounts ( I have a v8 t-5 tranny and everything to hook it up on a 302)
All the hubs and parts of suspension needed to make it 5-lug
Is any of that going ot work on my 67 Convertible 6 cyliy?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

k, I see that all the suspension wont work, but what about the spindles or hubs up front to make it 5-lug? I know the rearend will take care of the back's problem, but what about the front?
Also, is there any difference with the suspension on the v8 to I6 cars? what would I need to do to make it right?
And if anyone knows any websites that will answer some of my questions, please shoot me a link =)
Thanks

Except for the engine, tranny and rear, those are two different animals. Now, if it were a 65-66 swap, or a 67-68 swap, then yeah.

Yeah, the spindles, etc. will work to upgrade from 4 to 5 lug, but if you are going from drum brakes to drum brakes, you may as well do the Granada swap while you have it torn down. The suspension on the I6 will actually support the V8 but the springs are weaker and the suspension parts not designed for the V8. So, you will be pushing it to use the I6 suspension parts. Go ahead and do it right, and upgrade the front suspension to the V8 parts. Please google your heart out to see what others have to say about this subject. It has been discussed adnauseum. aa Here is a start for you. I don't mean to sound curt, just do a little research, and you will get tons of answers. http://www.geocities.com/cping3/v8swap.html If you don't, then certainly come back here and we will be happy to give you an opinion.

Awesome. I really appreciate your help. I know how frustrating it can be to help out the newbies, I was a DSM (Turbo Eclipse) guy and trying to help the newbies was rather difficult just because there was so much they didnt know yet, it was hard to teach. But I think im off to a good start and ready to tackle this Mustang!
