Default The Real Man's Cowl Leak Test

Haven't put this picture up for a while and there are probably a lot new guys who might get a kick out of it. This is how a real man tests for a leaky cowl. None of that wimpy "pour a bottle of water down it" stuff!

Haha that is a pretty serious test

But what and where are you supposed to look for with a cowl leak test?

you not afraid flooding the two fresh air vents in there with your high tide situation in the cowl? :-)

No. The water is not building up. It is draining just as fast as it goes in. The outlet at the top of the cowl is actually pretty big if you look at it.

The hole was not drilled. It is the hole normally covered with the rubber plug, just like the drain holes in the trunk drop offs. It happens to fit the thread of the garden hose.

This also cleaned out dirt and debris pretty nicely. A few days later i shot some primer into the same hole and then paint. Used a garden sprayer for that. Probably got some paint runs inside, but who cares. At least it is protected.
