Default Mystery wire under the hood

Anybody know what this is? It's just hanging there on my 289. I must have pulled it off a long time ago when I took the valve covers off to paint them. Looks like I need to put that wire guide clip under the corner valve cover bolt, but I can't find anything to plug the end into.

did it go to the oil sending unit? Is there something plugged on to that and does oil pressure work?

You are trying to win ROTM with a filthy motor like that.

Pull it, see what it leads to. And uh yeah, that is a pretty dirty engine for ROTM. No offense.

I wish I could find a chrome breather cap like that. My Ford Racing one doesn't sink down onto the valve cover, it sits on top of the stem.

That engine IS NOT dirty,,,,

THAT is called ENGINE PATINA....

Engine patina is like the hottest thing since sliced bread,,, duh...

I am ignorant as to exactly what the wire goes to, but like others, my first guess is to a sender....

My second guess is that the wire may supposed to go behind the engine and down to SOMETHING...

Sorry, we stripped the stock wiring out of the 66 way early in our process, so I am not much help with the stock wiring..

It goes on the "nail head" on the oil pressure sender. The "J" clip goes on the top front valve cover bolt. The braided heat shield is a dead giveaway on this question, and of course the location.
