Default My HEI is huge! Air cleaner wont fit

so i just upgraded my distributor to a HEI one and i knew it was big but didnt know it was that big. its huge and my round air cleaner isnt going to work with this setup. I already have a 1 inch spacer on the top of the carb but the air cleaner still sits on the wires from the HEI. If i raise the air cleaner another inch it just barely makes it but then the hood wont close.

so anyone else encounter this problem? im thinking im just going to have to buy a different air cleaner. is there a certain one that will fit

Just get a different one.. Probably the easiest way around it.

Yeah, I had the same issue. I just got a 9" filter. I may go with a custom intake with dual air ducts...eventually.

I knew there was a reason to avoid GM distributors.

Here's the engine bay of my car a couple years ago... The smaller air cleaner looked good!
