While I haven't posted in the classics section in a while, I sure do troll a lot, and all of you guys seem real sharp so I figured I'd post here with my question, I trust you guys!

It's A/C from a 92 Civic. Nope not turning it into rice or anything, just running it til it dies for good

Anyone know what the little black nickel sized thing with wires running to it is? Is it some type of coil? Switch? I have no clue, but I can't get the compressor outta there with it still on, and I can't figure out how to get it off. I know there's that little retainer thing but when I take that off it doesn't just fall off or anything, not even with a little persuasion. Any ideas? I figured at least one person here would know.
