Question C4 tranny shift kits: Got one?

Anyone here ever install a shift kit in their C4? The install sounds easy, but can you really feel an appreciable difference on the street? Does it pop into second before you are across the intersection?

Thanks for any replies.

Yes, it's worth it performance wise. And it can make the tranny live longer with faster shifts if you get the right one. I like a kit that still runs a vacuum modulator. Keeps the line pressure lower until it needs to be higher. Nose sense in it running 180 psi unless you are WOT.

Don't laugh...... I worked at B&M and love their products but for me, the Transgo hit a lot harder than the B&M.

Really ? Compared to what spring in the Transgo ? the green is pretty damn firm. BUt that kit does use a vacuum modulator. Does the B&M ? I don't know honestly. I tried the transgo and loved it. Can even convert to a manual valve body in the same kit.

I used the B&M kit on mine. Shifts HARD!! It was pretty easy to do . Also if you get the SHIFT KIT not the shift improver kit you can chose the FIRM shift or a hard shift. All in all it would take maybe 2 hours to do. Just follow the directions.....

Yes, the B&M Transpak does retain the modulator. I don't know, for me, the -2 Transgo was a lot better. Never went to the -3 but...... Don't get me wrong, the B&M is a great kit. It was just not what I wanted. Sure wish Holley didn't buy the supercharger dept or I'd still be there. Oh well......

I put the B&M kit in three cars now (including my son's 68 that we haven't started, yet). I love it and recommend it.

sure on a shift you can feel a difference, it will shift hard. i had my 70 with a c4 rebuilt and the shop put a improvement kit and theres no noticeable difference. but i had a performance shift kit years ago and hated it.
