Default Guys w/T5

I just fixed my T5 and need to fill it with transmission with fluid. I've read that some use ATF and others use MTF. I have an 85 world class T5 and don't know what to fill it with. I bought MTF before I rebuilt it and then read some need ATF. Does it really matter?

Yes it matters. ATF for a world class. Do not put gear oil in it or it will fail.

BTW, what was the problem? You said yesterday that it wouldn't spin.

I need some bolts for my shifter, 1 for my bearing retainer and 1 for the tailshaft. Would anyone know where I can buy them?

I went to lowes and bought some, but they don't fit. I only have 1 bolt to bolt on my shifter to the tailshaft. I'm missing 1 bolt on the bearing retainer, and I need a new bolt to bolt the tailshaft to the main part of the transmission.

It's nothing special, just a bolt. Go to a real hardware store (Ace, OSH, etc) with the one bolt you have that works and get 3 more.

Autozone FTW! They allowed me to get store credit without a reciept on my MTF. Also had the bolts I needed for my T5. I'm glad they have the display out where you can screw in your bolt to find out what size to buy. Also got 3 qrts of transmission fluid.

I don't dislike any other auto parts store, just go to autozone a lot.

Anyone on her have a 67-70 T5 crossmember they would sell me for under $100? There is a guy on another forum that has one cheap, but he hasn't been on since the 16th and I would like to buy one so I can get it next week.

Check out the Corral Forums classifieds. I've heard (but can't confirm) that the adaptor crossmember is identical to those used in fox body cars.

If you have a manual tranny that uses ATF spec fluid, then get the GM Synchromesh. It's primarily used in the TREMECs, but it's designed for ATF spec manual gearboxes. It's around $17 a quart but it's some badass gearbox fluid.

And yeah, go to a real hardware store to get hardware, and just buy grade 8 or stainless.
