Suggestions for 64.5 dual exhaust conversion
I want to get a more aggressive sound out of my exhaust. Currently, I have the stock single exhaust running from the stock 260 engine on a 64 1/2 convertible. HP gains is not the goal, just sound. Any suggestions?

There are several options. You could buy a pair of Flowmasters or Magnaflows and take it to your local muffler shop and have them make a new exhaust system and put your mufflers on. You can also get a complete kit.
It really depends what you want to do.
As far as you preferance, do you want loud or moderate or just a hint of the V8 sound?
Also, look on youtube for sound.
For you stock setup your pipe size should be 2 inch or 2.25 inch. You don't really need 2.5.

You could use the stock 64 dual exhaust, which is unique to 64 and early 65. Nice sound, without annoying your neighbors like flowies will. Actually, the Arvinode 64 exhaust is now being reproduced, too. Interesting, has tuned chambers on top of the mufflers.

I actually like the sound of Flowmaster on a 302. However, I will agree that there is some drone inside the car on the highway at certain speeds. I don't think any of the other mufflers sound as good though.

I've driven several Mustangs with flowies this week, and you can HAVE them. What a racket! The slightest acceleration alerts every cop in half a mile that you just might be speeding, even if you aren't.
