Default timing or carb

I revved up the engine of my 65 289 coupe and now the cars runs like crap it use to be a really smooth running engine but now the exshaust sounds bad it the best way to describe it is is that it has a whooping like feel and sound and the car vibrates bad.
It has a 4bl carb last time i revved it up one of the rocker arms came loose. It has been running rich cause i smell it all the tme y i am driving.
