Default Build date questioin

Hi, I am trying to purchase E-brake cables for my 69 coupe. One question that comes up is was it built after 2-17-69. Does anyone have the marty report and be able to estimate the build date using their assembly number on the their vin plate against mine.
It was built in San Jose CA and the assembly # is "123752" (These are the last 6 numbers on the vin plate)

Does anyone have a 69 built in San Jose. that knows their build date? Is it after your date or before. Any info would be greatly received.

Thanks, Cliff

Check the data plate on the drivers side door. Look at the code under "Date". The first 2 digits are the day the mustang was assembled and the letter determines the month.

Jan - A or N
Feb - B or P
March - C or Q
April - D or R
May - E or S
June - F or T
July - G or U
Aug - H or V
Sep - J or W
Oct - K or X
Nov - L or Y
Dec - M or Z

Thanks, BA, for your response but my plate is missing because of a previous owner. I believe the door was replaced at one time without the plate being reinstalled.

But I am still open to other resonses

I found my suspicions to be correct. I found a painted over door tag that was grinded on. This made the numbers un-readable, so I poped the painted tag and held it in front of a mirrior and I was able to read it from the backside. I believe it to be the wrong tag. This drivers door was replaced but the original tag must have been discarded.

No prob.

I have a 1969 San Jose car (with a Los Angeles DSO).

My vin ends 151764, and my build date is March 4, 1969. (04C)

Hypothetically, if your car was built on 2-17-69, it would mean that the San Jose plant built 28,017 cars in exactly 2 weeks (leap year); that's 2001 Mustangs a day just from one plant.

Your car was probably built way before 2-17-69, since it's unlikely they were making 2000 Mustangs a day. That's just a guess.

Hope it helps.

CP

just an fyi, the assembly number includes all cars coming out of that plant, not just mustangs. but still 2000 cars a day is still unlikely

Wow, I didn't know that! I thought the build number referred to Mustangs only. Do you have a SJ car? Also, is your DSO 71 (LA)? Just wondering since you live in LB.

Yeah I read that about the assembly number on a website or in one of my books. Also, the assembly number starts at 100001, not 000001.

But yes my car is a San Jose car with DSO 71, however the dealer was in santa barbara, ca (according to my marti report).

I think the best statistic about my car is that it was built 1 day behind schedule It was slow coming out of the factory haha

Mine's a Dearborn, so probably of no help, but mine's number 154128 built January 28, 1969. Apparently Dearborn was pumping them out faster than San Jose.
