Default A code, C Code Please explain

I am looking at 1965 Mustang fastbacks for sale and I keep seeing references to "A" code and "C" code Mustangs. Can someone please explain the differences between them. Thanks

The codes reference the engine package!

For 65 C code means 289 engine with 2 barrel carb, A code is 289 with 4 barrel, and then you have K code which is the Hipo GT option, there are also a few other codes
for that year.

T Code = 200 c.i. @ 120 h.p. w/9.2:1 compression and a one barrel carburator.
C Code = 289 c.i. @ 200 h.p. w/9.3:1 compression and two barrel carburator.
A Code = 289 c.i. @ 225 h.p. w/10.0:1 compression and a four barrel carburator.
K Code = 289 c.i. @ 271 h.p. w/10.5:1 compression and a four barrel carburator.

Cheers.....[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

...then you have K code which is the Hipo GT option...
The high performance K-code engine has nothing to do with the GT package. They were 2 entirely separate options. It was one of the 2 engines that could be had with the GT (the more common being the A-code), but not an automatic part of it. In other words, there were a number of K-code non-GT Mustangs made in 1964.5, '65, '66, and even a limited number in '67.

True! I meant Hipo only, I did not refrence GT as in GT package I meant it has in the high power engine option (I always see it as the GT engine option)
