OK so I forgot to update till now..

The epoxy tip worked great! So many thanks for that tip. Cleaned the upper tip of the oil driveshaft and the inside of the distributor then mixed up some epoxy. Used a small screwdriver to push it up inside the lower distributor hole and a bit on the shaft tip. Pushing the shaft in it'll want to push right back out so just stood it up on the work bench for about 30 minutes.. or until you no longer see it pushing back out. Dropped the distributor into the engine and bolted it down over night. The next day I pulled it out and the shaft had properly seated itself down into the oil pump.

+100 to CPR for this super tip!
