68 MUSTANG HOOD STUCK SHUT
hey guys, i have had a heck of a time trying to get this open, and decided its time to call in the big dogs.... i have the hood latch without a cable, that you just go under and lift it right up... problem is the hook that latches under the catch rod, the spring came off and now that part isnt moving... and the hood won't come open... myself and THREE others have tried getting a screwdriver in there at differant angles trying to pop it and it just won't work.... so then i tried to just unbolt the mount all together and lift it up.... then i ran into the problem that the two bolts at the top are where i cant get to them.. so i'm stuck... any suggestions?

Squirt some lube up there?
There are two bolts that hold down an L shape metal rod that your hood latch secures to. The L shape peice is secured to a support peice that reinforces the grille as well. That piece is held down by four big 1/2" bolts to the grill and front frame support. Also, if you have a metal Mustang in your grille there will be three small nuts attached as well.
You could try to take off the latch from the hood or jack the car up to get a better view. I would go with some kind of spray lube though.
