Default Carb choice.......which one for the set up I have??

In my 67, I have a 289 with a hydraulic flat tappet cam, performer rpm heads, headers and dual Magnaflow exhaust (by previous owner). I will be replacing the distributor and go with an electronic ignition. I have T5 and will be installing either 3.55 or 3.80 gears.

I'm using the car as a weekend cruiser and a trip to the strip occasionally.

Now, for my selection in carbs, I'm thinking of one of the following:

Holly Street Avenger - 570 cfm or 670 cfm??
OR
Barry Grant Road Demon - 525 cfm or 625 cfm??

What do you guys think with the setup I have/will have?

Quick Fuel 650 if you want something with complete tunability.

I'm very pleased with the Edelbrock Performer 750 (note that I have a 351C-4v,
for a 289, you might want the 600cfm).
It worked great right out of the box. Reliable with no adjustments for almost 3 years (weekend driver). Drivability is almost as good as EFI. Edel says it's compatible with modern gas, so you don't have to rebuild it every year.

I have heard good things about both makers. I run a Holley on my car and I would also consider a Demon. I am not a fan of Edelbrock carbs (JMO).
If you go with the Holley, I would go with the Street Avenger - 570 cfm.
If you go with the Barry Grant, I would go with the Road Demon - 625 cfm.

An Edelbrock/AFB 600 manual choke (tuned more for performance than the auto choke version) would probably do well for you straight out of the box.

Edelbrock 1405. Edelbrock carburetors are like the Ron Popeil Showtime Rotisserie - "set it and forget it!".

I vote for the Edelbrock carbs too. I have a 650 on mine and it works great. I know that Holley is more tunable, but for a street car, I don't like Holley

I still don't get why people don't like Holleys on street cars. My Quick Fuel is basically a Holley with major tunability. No leaks, it doesn't lose the tune, simple to work on, always runs right.

Holleys have earned, over decades, a reputation for internal and external leaks. The internal leaks are the worst, since they cause the carb to operate poorly. They are caused by Holley using the gaskets themselves to form some of the passages. Minute problems with the gaskets cause the passages to bleed into each other. Current Holley gasket technology has reduced this, but it is still a design flaw. The best 4V ever designed is the Autolite 4100, but unfortunately
only comes up to just shy of 600 cfm, so it doesn't see a lot of performance use.
