the airgap and rpm manifolds are for higher rpm range. not the best idea for a stocker.
I was well pleased with the weiand 8124 (which is the action+) and a 570 holley.
I had an autolite 2100 before that which is an awesome carb (i liked it) and the 4100 will do even better. It's a good choice for a stocker. even better when you use headers

Are any linkage mods required when chnaging from a 2V setup to a 4100 and Weiand 8124? Will the automatic choke heat tube still bolt up ok?

if the 2V is autolite 2100 and the 4V is autolite 4100 i don't see any problem with the linkage. the linkage is held in with a clip on both carbs (similar to a door lock rod).

The automatic choke heat tube (heat riser) can be plugged to the autlite 4100 as well (i had one of those). The other end of heat riser is connected to exhaust manifold (which I believe you are not changing).
Even if you change to headers, there's a replacement part that you can get that you just clamp to the header

To sum it up stock intake with autolite 2100 to Weiand 8124 with autolite 4100 should be straight forward.

The only thing I can thhink off is that maybe the water temperature sensor threads are different in each intake. so check on that.

I have the 8124 street warrior on my 1976 F-100 with a Holley vacuum secondary's 600 CFM carb on a 76 302. That woke up the stock motor some what. I need a new fuel pump. The one that's on there is not working and the fuel tank only gravity feeds the carb. so go figure. I still have single exhaust, I bought a HEI for a 302 distributer. They calmed 25 + HP gain. Your 289 I think has 9.0:1 compression ratio. Do you have dual exhaust? or headers yet? Hope some way this helps.

I had to order Holley's conversion kit, going from a two barrel to a four barrel, for the automatic trans. The throttle linkage had a extension for the trans kick down. The stock throttle linkage works good, you will have to turn the threaded rod out a few turns to snap the stock linkage back on the 4 barrel.

Have someone hold the carb to the floor, while you look for full throttle opening down in the carb. Do this before you prime the carb.
289 short stroke 2.87" if I can remember, high revving engine great for the street. Add a street cam, lifters and correct valve spring's, for a healthy small block with great low and mid range torque from the Weiand and autolite package.
