I may try doing the cowl next after this. I'm only taking the top off, cleaning and fixing what is inside and a little on the edges, and then I will glue the new top down and I will not be welding it in place.
I have talked to several people here locally and they said gluing it down is the way to go and it will be stronger then welding it in.

That's interesting that it's better to glue done te top. I guess it's cause te top probably has little to no stress on it, and the bottom carries all the rigidity. Plus it probably helps against water getting in cracks and crevices between the panels.

I am sure your wife will appreciate all the work you are putting into this. You are doing a great job. As said "keep the pictures coming". But you too will be proud of the results when your are done.

If you have pics of the cowl work, I'd appreciate the share.
We've finished the engine project and mucked out the interior. Next steps will be the engine compartment and cowl, followed by the floor pans and underside of the passenger compartment. I'm reading as much as I can find on how to make the job go smoother.
