It would be a no brainer to stroke it to 460, that much closer to 500 hp from the get go.

Thanks again for the nice links to the other forums about the Ford Big Blocks. I think I'm going to go with one of these stroker kits for my 429 build up:

Damn.....

385 engines are good solid powerplants, with a fair amount of aftermarket support available.

Many stock 429s and 460s make good power, and I have heard that the stock block and cast crank are good to 750 or so HP.

IMO they are a great foundation for hot rodding and are arguably cheaper (a lot) to build than a FE with similar power goals.

go to this guys site hes in colorado springs maybe hes close to you hes on 460ford com http://www.carsbycarl.com/ .and i've run 1000 hp on a stock block and crank
