Default are there any tricks to removing rusted on brake drums

I cannot seem to get the front drums off. Can i remove the nut from the hub and pull the whole thing off then try to seperate the hub/drum?

they are rusted on and wont budge. i dont want to damage the hub. ughhhh

by the way i am talking about the front. Do they need to be pressed off?

unbolt the 4 bolts on the rear brake backong plate, unhook the brake line after you remove the center nut and it will all come off at once

oh wait you need to use the hubs.... well you just need to remove the hub and drum and get them pressed out....my disc kit i removed everything at once and junked the rest....

you need a BFH to pound them off. They are a pain to remove but with some patients they will come off.

The front drums are pressed onto the hubs, you must remove the retaining nut and the outer wheel bearing to remove the drum & hub assembly.

so the hubs will come free from the drums? im afraid ill damage them. i do have a BFH

Spray some PB blaster in there then get the BFH after them.

Remove the hub and drum as one assembly by removing the spindle nut and outter bearing. Once you have both the hub and drum of you can assess if the drums need replacing. If you then need to get the drums off the hubs either use a brass punch or put an old nut on the stud to knock the studs out of the hubs using a big hammer. The studs are the main thing that keep the hub and drum tgether.
