The good: It's all there, starts, stops and drives. The interior is all there. The exterior is all there. preofessionally rebuilt 200ci with 3 speed manual. very nice stereo with ipod input. original cali car. almost no rust at all. only a few paint bubbles here and there

The bad: The paint is F'ed up and has oxidized in many places, flaked off in more, scratched up in still others. the car jerks a little when driving, makes a few rattleing noises here and there..

asking price is $3,200. If I can work him down to 3,000 flat...do you guys think it's worth it?

pics would help alot. Just based on description, I'd say price is decent for a 6cyl. I will say the manual tranny does make a properly tuned 6cylinder more fun to drive. The paint can easily be 2 grand if you are going to have a quality job done. At 5 grand, you can find a nice running 289 for that money if you are patient. The almost no rust is a big plus. Rattle noises are pretty common so wouldn't get too concerned about that. Not sure what jerking is. Might be clutch issues if it feels like surging or could be allignment if it is side to side. Could also be steering box or worn out front components so kinda hard to say. Again, pics would help alot.

I bet you can get 2900 if you tell him..

Well the steering box feels worn out and I think the front suspension needs new bushings and maybe ballends. I think maybe the clutch has some oil on it or worn out...when was it replaced??? ...humm okay would you take 2900?

Good luck

+1 cash in hand is a very good negotiating tool. you would be surprised how low someone is willing to go when they are staring at a stack of green.

and you can get a decent little paint job for 1100-1200. wont be perfect but it will look a lot better than faded clear coat

I think you better get it. You will kick yourself if you don't. you just can't find any at that price anymore.

Around here you cant get a halfway decent paint job for under $2k. I paid $4k and i disassembled it sand blasted it and put it back together.
