Default Hooking fused wires straight to the battery versus solenoid?

Is there any difference in this? I have too many wires on my solenoid and wont be able to screw the nut down so If I connect them straight to the positive terminal on the battery will it make a difference?

The wires I want to connect straight to the battery will be headlight power (from relay), electric fan power (from relay), and radio amplifier (fused 8 gauge)

Anything wrong with this?

what all extra are you running???

the only problem with that is that the terminal normally corrodes giving you more chances for a bad connection etc

Hmmm whats connected to the solenoid is the electric fan, headlight relays, radio amp, alternator, and the battery cable which is 0 gauge so its really thick connection

The reason I am going to run out of room is because I was going to get a mini starter and it has me move the starter cable over to the power side of the solenoid and I already don't have any room to add anything else.

Anything that's connected to the large positive post on the starter is essentially the same as connecting it to the battery positive terminal. If there's a fuse something inline- keep it.

Why not get a power distribution box and connect that to the solenoid and connect your accessories to it? I wouldn't connect straight to the battery. It usually creates more corrosion issues.

Link to one?

It would be nice to be able to hook everything up to a point mounted far below the solenoid so the wires are not all in a mess going straight to the solenoid

Shelby's had such a terminal, there are replacement and "show correct" versions.

Any Mustang supplier is likely to have both.

Summit has a bunch of junction blocks, Jegs and most others will as well. Getting the connections off the battery will limit the corrosion issues and clean up the under hood wiring. You can also get junction blocks off newer cars in the junkyard, quite a few that have the battery buried under air boxes and other stuff will have a junction block as a power source to jump the car or test the battery.

I forgot about that OE style one 2+2 is showing. I was thinking about one more like what Thumpin linked to. Either will work though. I was thinking about putting one on my car. Right now I am at the point to where I can't add anything else to the solenoid either. I don't plan on adding much if anything else, but the need may arise when I do need to.

I'm wiring up now and trying to decide where to put my junction block, anyone have any experiences to share?

I'm thinking about putting it where the original voltage regulator was....
