Default Painting Air Gap Manifold

Anyone have any experience with painting an edelbrock air gap manifold. The space that is below the carb is going to be hard to cover with spray paint. I am painting it black.

I painted mine gray. Start with the parts you cant see. I also did it off the engine. The paint in the hard to reach places will end up a little thick in some areas.

Mine is not installed yet. Should I spray it thick and use a long brush or what about brake caliper paint?

I used engine paint. No need for a brush. The tips on the good engine paint can turn the van vertical or horizontal. Use that to your advantage. Spray underneath areas first. The overspray will cover a portion of the easy to paint areas. If you paint the easy areas first they will run after hitting the underside. It's aluminum. It will never rust out. If you can't see it while its installed on the engine then it doesn't need finish quality paint.

Black is nice. I would then sand the paint off the raised letters to give it a little pop.

Yeah I would just get a can with the fan spray tip and do several light coats. It will get thick, but you want to do several small coats to ensure coverage and to prevent runs in the paint

One of those cheap chrome drop air filter holders work for me. It is close though, very close.

Should I use engine paint primer before I paint it black?

Thanks OCHO. I want to swap my "Performer" for one of these but I'm having second thoughts because of the hood issue.
