Best ATF Fluid?

Got a 69 with FMX transmission, I heard type F is the best thing to use? Can I use synthetic? What is the best ATF fluid to use to keep temps down?

I always used type F in my FMX worked just fine. If you want to keep it cooler you could always just add a trans cooler.
