Default Can a T5 Tranny swap be this easy???

From what I have gathered a T5 WC can go into my 66 as easy as adding the bell housing adapter, modifying the tunnel cutout a little, adding the tranny mount and in my case using a 28 spline driveshaft yoke, since my toploader is an old 25 spline. Can it be that easy, using the existing linkage, clutch and bell housing???

Yep, it really is. I've seen it done under 3 hours. If you have the 25 spline yoke and the matching external clip driveshaft, you'll need a special U joint to put a 28 spline yoke on. I know where to get one, if so.

Don't forget you'll need a speedo cable and gear, too.

I appreciate all of your straightforward answers. I will need the special U-joint I suppose. Some of the T5's I have seen have the yoke included. Will this work with the U-joint you are talking about?

After installing the 4.11's I have started to shop CL for WC T5's used and the price ranges are all over the place. I'm in no rush, but finding one locally would be ideal.

BTW I am liking the 4.11's so far. A 5 speed would kill two birds with one stone though, as my 4 speed is getting tired.

As long as it's the 64-66 internal clip type, yes.

If I were you I would save me a lot of headache and just get a new 3" aluminum DS that fits right. IF I had done that during my swap it would have saved me like 300 bucks even though the DS cost 300.

Look into Denny's Driveshafts.

It is an easy swap but it is easier with a buddy helping. I went with a hydraulic clutch instead of the old linkage and this also helped with my headers clearance. I also recommend going with the aluminum DS to eliminate vibration harmonics...

It is definitely and easy swap for a mechnically inclined person. I didn't even have to modify the tunnel.

I got all my conversion parts from Modern Driveline. I went with their clutch cable and it works great.

Is there any advantage to using a hydraulic clutch vs cable clutch besides getting pasted the headers ?

My cable clutch is great... worlds apart from the old mechanical clutch. IMO the hydraulic is a waist of money.

No. I've been involved with T5 conversions since before there were cable setups for these cars. Just last summer I repaired a horribly neglected and abused stock clutch setup in a 428CJ car. Once everything under the dash was repaired (I did use Drake rollers instead of bushings on the pedal shaft) that clutch was so smooth and easy a 10-year-old girl could have operated it. It'll last indefinitely that way, too. No, I can't see the point of cutting and drilling and all the other modifications required when the stock setup works that well. The stock clutch on my 66 has never been allowed to fall into disrepair, so it's always worked great. And I put a LOT of miles on it when it was my "driver".
