ok thanks! but i was wondering if i could get one from a salvage yard out of a foxbody or early 90's mustang would they bolt up to my bell housing? The motor should be between 500 and 600 at the flywheel when its done. Or should i just order a brand new one from summit?
The 86-93 Mustang V8 T5 is the stronger version, and will bolt right in to a 64-73 Mustang, with the adapter plate or T5 bellhousing and special T5 rear crossmember. It should be fine, as long as you don't beat the snot out of it.
Because a T5 and an AOD would not hold up to a 500 horse motor.
Getting 500HP out of a 302. Now that would be impressive for a street car. Not to mention extremely expensive. You have a whole bunch of options for that motor as far as transmissions and since you are going to drop a bundle on the engine you might as well get the transmission you want. Good luck.
I don't see the point in spending all the money of the T5 conversion, having it fail, then having to spend the 2,100. Then instead of spending 2100 once your spending that plus the cost of the T5 conversion, but that's my opinion.
I don't know too much about T5's but i don't think it would handle that much.
Hmmm… missed that. Wonder how he's planning to get that much from a 347, NoS or a supercharger? It's gonna be real expensive either way, he should step up and get a stronger trans, $2100 bucks is nothing to a guy who's supercharging a 347 custom engine.
I want to know if I can put a T-5 in my 73 mach 1 it came with a 3 speed manual can I use the original 302 bellhousing? Will it bolt up or what mods will I have to do?!
Yes you can use a T5. You will either need to modify your existing or get the T5 conversion crossmember, shorten your driveshaft, and do a cable clutch conversion.
