Electronic ignition HELP!
Hey guys/gals, I have a 67 289, that needs the electronic ignition upgrade. I have done a seach and haven't gotten all of my questions answered. First, is there a quality difference between MSD and pertronix? What all is needed for the switch to be made smoothly? I was wondering if these links below is all I need plus a coil? I'd like to get the best for the money, but at the same time I don't want to sacrafice quality. Thanks.

RE: Electronic ignition HELP!
Quality wise, (imo) no. They are both exceptional products.
Comparison wise, it's like comparing an FRPP 300+HP 302 to a CHP 400+HP 331.
Really depends on where you plan to go. If you are happy with your basically stock to mildly modified engine, the Pertronix is all you need. If you want to room to go extreme down the road, then MSD is the way to go.
If you go with the MSD distributor, be careful which gear you get. Cast or machined will be based on your camshaft. Do some research on the MSD website, or purchase locally through a quality speed shop.

You could also keep your stock dist, and go with the Pertronix Ignitor II, with their Flamethrower Coil, and some 8mm wires. Hell, you might as well get a new cap and rotor to finish it off, unless you replaced those recently. It would cost you less in the long run, but you will be limited to what you can do, like Scott said. Just my opinion.
