Fuel Gauge Mystery

Fuel Gauge Mystery
Allright ... i got a little mistery here that i don't know how to solve.
I have a standard 66 Mustang Coupe with a malfunctioning fuel gauge. The gauge sticks to the 'half full' marking wether it's empty or full. It doesn't move untill i turn off the ignition.
- things i tried:
* I replaced the gauge with another one, same model ... no change
* I replaced the fuel tank sending unit with another one ... no change
* Wiring was replaced in the past by a painless kitt.
any other suggestions ?
thx
Mike

Goodness, it looks like you replaced everything that should have fixed it, but yet it did not since it still sticks. Did you try rocking the rear end to see if the sender maybe is hanging up? Not sure what else you can do. The tank sender was it working before you put it inside the tank? I am thinking it would give you a variable resistance if you checked it with a DVM, and moved it up or down. Good luck!
