Default Almost ready to paint my Mustang coupe...but...

I need your opinion.

It's a 64/65.

I have narrowed it down to two colors schemes.

One is the classic red with white stripes...and the other is the Eleanor combo...pewter gray with black stripes...

My car is a faded red...might be easier and cheaper to go with red with white stripes...but just give me your preference...not what's easier for me...

Also...what other colors you might like?

Burgundy with white stripes?

Black with yellow stripes?

No stripes?

I have been away for a long time...but life has been too hectic as of late.

Nice to see some familiar posters still around.

Oh...this is my ride:

I'm gonna get rid of those hood locks...have the body guy/painter weld the holes shut...I hate them...I never park the car in the street anyway...I cruise around...and take it straight back to my carport anyway...lol.

Thanks guys!

I'd say red/white over pepper gray/black.

I've always liked black/black/black myself. Black paint, Black interior and Black vinyl top. Don't see it often but its a winner in my book. Toss on a 65/66 Shelby hood or a 67 style hood that fits the 65/66... or not. Could also go with 65/66 R model style lower valance. Badgeless and not top stripes without a doubt. Perhaps a Shelby Snake on the rear C pillar.. cut off the Shelby and just use the Snake if you'd prefer. Lower side stripes in white optional.

Go that extra step and have all the chrome powder coated a high gloss.. like Mirror Black. The powder over chrome *really* pops the color and adds an extra depth to the finish. The powder coating could be done overtime and not when its painted to help spread out the funds.

Shelby's version the Black Hornet loosely based on the 68 Shelby Green Hornet.
(Edit.. let me correct myself.. the Black Hornet was endorsed by Shelby however was built by Barry Smith of Legendary GT. Shelby endorsed and took ownership of the car afterwards so it could be auctioned off from his collection. An undisclosed portion of the auction sale was dotated to his Children's Foundation.)

Yeah I've thought about this myself lol

I like the Eleanor scheme better out of your two options. Red will cause your insurance to go up, though per your VIN, the insurance already thinks your car is red...
I am partial to dark blues, though I REALLY like the new Ford Blue Flame Metallic- I don't think I've seen any Stangs in the color, but have seen it on new Ford trucks and it looks great!

I agree with the comment about how coupes look clean with no stripes.

My vote also goes for red or any color except pink for that matter without stripes. I think on coupes the only stripes that look good are GT stripes on the rockers. This only looks good if you use the GT emblems etc.

If your set on stripes then go with the red white. Nothing is wrong with the gray and black, but it seems quite a few cars are getting painted that way these days and I'm not a fan of Eleanor anyway.

Wow...I never though of that...it sounds killer...and expensive.
