Default rear shock replacement...need help!!!

how do I access the top nut for the shock absorber...? Do I need to take the rear seat out, or the side paneling? I have a shop manual, but it doesn't tell where to access the top mount from. I have a fastback, and I have never pulled the rear seat. How do I tackle this job?

Remove the rear seat cusion, and back. Then you'll see these oval holes with plugs.
