Default 351 windsor wiring problems

I have a 68 mustang with a 351 windsor off of a 69 GT 350. I just swapped the alternators out going from a 3 wire 60 amp, to a 1 wire 150 amp. When I hooked everything up the starter wouldn't retract and kept spinning on the fly wheel. I bought a new solenoid for it wired everything back up to what I think is right, and the car would start automatically once the battery was hooked up no key in the ignition. I think the solenoid is bad, so I put the old one back in wired it up and now the car wont even start. Everything will get power: the radio, dome light headlights but it wont start. Has anyone had the same problem, or has a wiring diagram of what the solenoid should look like wired, and what the left over cabling from the old alternator should be done with?
